Who can get a card? What information do you need? What happens if I lose my card?
- Residents of Bedford City or County can register for a card, at no cost. Non-residents may be issued a library card based on reciprocal fees charged by the library located within their area of residence. Residents of Campbell County must obtain a library card from their local Campbell County library.
- All registration forms must be filled out in the presence of a staff member. By signing the registration card, the registrant agrees to comply with the rules of the library and to pay applicable fines or fees that may be incurred for damages or losses of library materials.
- All registrants must present valid identification with a current address.
- A parent or guardian must sign the registration form for persons under 18. In doing so, the parent or guardian accepts responsibility for the child's use of the library and agrees to pay fines or fees incurred for misuse of library materials.
- Library cards are issued for 2 years and must be renewed. Non-residents will owe a fee again at the time of renewal. Library cards may be denied to those patrons with a past record of abuse of library privileges.
- Lost or stolen library cards should be reported immediately. All patrons will be charged $1.00 to replace a lost or stolen card.

How do I sign up for a computer? Who can use the computers? Is there a time limit?
- Computer users must have a library card and be in good standing in order to access this service.
- Adult library users will select for themselves whether to use filtered or unfiltered access to the Internet.
- A minor's parent or legal guardian will determine if the minor may access the Internet and (a) whether access is to be filtered or (b) if the decision is left to the minor.
- A signed parental permission form is required for all juvenile patrons to use Internet service and minors must present their library cards at the time of use.
- Visitors from outside the area who would not reasonably have a BPLS library card may use the Library's computers by presenting personal (photo) identification.
- Time on the Library computers may be limited to specific periods when others are waiting.

Who can use the wireless network? How about electrical outlets? Will staff be able to help me with connection issues?
- The Library's wireless network is open to anyone.
- WIFI access is offered as a service for patrons who want to use their own laptops in the library.
- The Library provides filtered access over an open network. Wireless users should be cautious when sending or receiving sensitive information.
- Electrical outlets are available for patron use, however, the Library will not provide AC adapters.
- Not all staff members are familiar with wireless networking. As a result, he or she may be unable to assist with connection problems.
